Chesney Stoves & Fireplaces
Good design is intrinsic to every Chesneys product. Our period fireplaces are exact copies of antique originals whilst our contemporary fireplaces include the work of leading designers to reflect current trends in interior design.
Our heating appliances recognise the need to combine aesthetically pleasing design with the latest energy efficient and climate friendly technology.
Outstanding craftsmanship means using traditional techniques in our manufacturing whether hand carving a marble chimneypiece or forging steel on a blacksmith’s anvil. These are labour intensive and highly skilled processes for which there is no substitute.

Chesney Contemporary Fireplaces
These designs have been guided by the premise that whilst the detail and form of the fireplace may have been re-imagined to suit modern tastes, its proportions should still be governed by traditional considerations that ensure its size suits the room which it is to be installed.
The Chesney’s contemporary collection contains both re-workings of classical designs and a number of entirely new designs that offer an innovative alternative approach to traditional fireplace design.
Chesney Victorian Fireplaces
Following the relative simplicity of the Regency period, Victorian fireplace design was characterised by an eclectic and unrestrained approach, incorporating elements of both classicism and naturalistic detail. The proportions of the fireplace reflected the architecture of the period as it became lower in height than its predecessors to suit the modest ceiling heights found in many 19th century buildings.
Victorian fireplaces generally had mantel shelves of generous depth to accommodate the decorative imperative of the period to display as much ornament as possible.
